Abstract

A new plant species, Cooksonia crassiparietilis, is described from the Lower Devonian of central Kazakhstan. It is found associated with Psilophyton princeps Dawson and Zosterophyllum australianum Cookson and Lang. The species is differentiated from other species of Cooksonia on the basis of sporangium size and wall structure. Forked sporangia are reported. Dehiscence of the sporangia is described as apical and lateral. This report extends the geographic range of the genus. — F. M. Hueber.
