Abstract
Stenting, which is included in the therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures, improves the quality of life and may prolong the survival of patients with lung cancer. Silicone stents, especially the bifurcated ones, require unique experience in their insertion in critical cases with carinal deformation. We have designed forceps to facilitate placement of silicone stents, especially in critical situations. We used the forceps during insertion of straight and bifurcated silicone stents in 34 patients. By using these novel forceps, the stent placement procedure was performed easily and quickly.
