Abstract

A new method is presented to determine the compression moduli of nuclei from their ground-state properties. It uses the volume, surface and Coulomb energy coefficients of two families of known mass formulae of nuclei having different starting assumptions. The value of the compression modulus Kinfinity of infinite nuclear matter has been obtained and agrees with that derived from the new precision data for monopole energies.
