Abstract
ABSTRACT A new monotypic genus of eriopisid amphipod Bathypisella gen. nov. is described and illustrated. The specimens were collected on sediments from the southern Gulf of Mexico, at 884 m depth, aboard the R/V Justo Sierra. The new eriopisid herein described differs from other genera mainly by bearing coxae 1–7 with a posteroventral notch; pleonal and urosomal segments dorsally toothed, and without setae; pereopod 7 basis narrow; and telson with 2 robust setae dorsally.
