Abstract

We present a new relation between pitch angle of spiral arm (a parameter of the tightness of spiral structure) and the galaxy stellar masses.Taken both with the result that stellar mass seems to determine pitch angle of spiral arm, one would anticipate a correlation to exist between pitch angle of spiral galaxy and the galaxy stellar masses in disk of spiral galaxies. In this study, we measured the stellar mass of galaxy by using the calibration of L3.6µm,gal., and using the constant mass-to-light ratio (M/L)3.6µm,gal., were derived from the stellar population models. We conclude that pitch angle of spiral arm is a instrument to calculate indirect measurements of the stellar mass of galaxy.
