Abstract

An algorithm is developed to obtain the contour plot of principal scalar, vector and tensor valued fields in areas of engineering such as elevations of a terrain, deflections or stresses varying within the domain. This can be applied to scalar field problems in meteorology as well. An isoparametric style of interpolation is used to obtain such contours in two as well as in three dimensions. Computer programs have been developed to plot the contours, the surfaces as well as the deformed shapes and viewed from any point in any direction.
