Abstract

A tridimensional model for a floating airport with multiple floating semi-submersible modules is developed using the network theory. The phenomenon of amplitude death, a collectively weak oscillatory state, is observed, which plays a significant role in global stability design of the floating airport in waves. Numerical simulations illustrate the contour map of amplitude death state in a parametric space of the wave frequency and connector stiffness in different wave angles. The paper introduces a new concept for the global stability design for very large floating structures in marine engineering.
