Abstract
A new concept for self-supporting 12–24 kV aerial cable has been on full-scale test in Sweden since the early 1970s. The cable, with the designation AXUS, consists of three nonshielded cores twisted around each other. This triple-extruded XLPE-insulated cable has been used in about 100 km of overhead lines, giving advantages of high efficiency and high reliability, with low capital investment
