Abstract

Even with the recent advances in diesel engine efficiency, approximately 20 % to 25 % of the fuel energy released during combustion is expelled into the environment as hot exhaust gas. In collaboration with Behr, ArvinMeritor has developed a device called the Exhaust Heat Management System (EHMS), which recovers waste heat in the exhaust to provide auxiliary cabin heating.
