Abstract

In this paper, we propose a novel microstrip antenna for 2.4 GHz (2.4-2.484 GHz) and the 5.8GHz (5.725–5.825 GHz) bands complying with IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11a WLAN standards, respectively. The proposed Antenna occupies an area of 27 mm × 27 mm, when printed on FR4 substrate (εr = 4.4, h = 0.8 mm). The antenna comprises of a bow-tie section, an L-shaped slot on the ground plane, and a 50Ωmicrostrip transmission feed line. Prototype of the proposed antenna has been fabricated and tested. The compact size, low cost, ease of fabrication, and good radiation parameters in comparison with previously published designs are the most advantages of the proposed antenna.
