Abstract
Rauschert in Taxon 31 (3): 559 (1982) presented the new name Pseudopiptadenia for Monoschisma Brenan (1955) which is a later homonym of a bryophyte, Monoschisma Duby (1868), and proposed new combinations for the two species placed by Brenan in his genus. Lewis & Lima in Arquivos Jard. Bot. do Rio de Janeiro (in press) expand Pseudopiptadenia to include Newtonia Baill. sect. Neonewtonia Burkart and recognise a total of 8 species, 3 of which are described as new. As their paper deals with Brazilian material it is now necessary to provide a new combination for a species from Venezuela and Colombia.
