Abstract

In the present article, a new heuristic algorithm colliding bodies optimization (CBO) is applied to solve optimal power flow (OPF) problem in an electrical power system. CBO is simple in structure and does not have any control parameters. Recently, the CBO is applied on different mathematical and structural problems owing to its appreciable efficacy other than the several existing algorithms. The performance and efficiency of the proposed CBO method are demonstrated on IEEE 30-bus system with different objective functions. Results obtained with the proposed CBO method is compared with other methods present in the recent literature. From these results, it can be concluded that the CBO algorithm provides better solutions for different OPF problems.
