Abstract

Chain-extended comb-like polyepoxides (PEP) with oligoethylene oxide units in the side chains have been synthesized and complexed with LiClO 4 to obtain a new class of polymer electrolyte. PEP/Li complexes showed conductivity up to 10 −4 S cm −1 at room temperature. The influence of thermal properties, side chain length, content of diepoxide and salt concentration on conductivity was investigated. Finally the comparison between PEP/Li systems and similar polyvinylethers (PVE/Li) based membranes showed a significant improvement in conductivity with the polyepoxide structure in spite of negligible differences in complexes' T g.
