Abstract

A neutral-ionic (N-I) transition was found for a mixed-stack charge transfer crystal of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and dimethyldicyanoquinonediimine (DMDCNQI) at 0.9 GPa. At the transition pressure (P c), a large ionicity jump of ca 0.8 was observed in IR spectra. The large jump suggests a small transfer integral in this system. Above P c, absorption bands of TTF + and DMDCNQI - appeared in electronic spectra and vibronically activated totally symmetric vibrations of TTF and DMDCNQI were observed in the IR spectra.
