Abstract

A nonlinear PtHPt group is the characteristic feature of the cation (1), which is surprisingly formed from trans-[PtH(NO3)(Et3P)2] and Na[BPh4]. In contrast to other binuclear platinum hydrates, (1) does not contain a (stabilizing) bidentate donor ligand.
