Abstract
In this paper, a new calculation method using the overlapping grid is proposed on the basis of the physical generation mechanism of micro-pressure waves which can be used efficiently in long tunnels and firstly in bend tunnels for the calculation of micro pressure waves. The method can be divided into two steps: a) a dynamic reconfiguration grid algorithm is adopted at the entrance domain with the train model in to calculate the compression waves generated inside the tunnels; b) a stationary grid algorithm is utilised at the exit domain and other domains of the tunnel without the train model to calculate the compression wave propagation and micro-pressure wave generation. The results show good agreements with the full-scale and moving model measurements with differences less than 7%, which verifies that the new domain decomposition method can simulate the micro pressure wave peaks accurately but less costly.
