Abstract

The neutrino chirality flip process under the conditions of the supernova core is investigated indetail with the plasma polarization effects in the photon propagator taken into account, ina more consistent way than in earlier publications. It is shown in part that the contributionof the proton fraction of plasma dominates. A new upper bound on the Dirac neutrinomagnetic moment is obtained from the limit on the supernova core luminosity forνR emission: μν<(0.7–1.5) × 10−12 μB. The best upper bound on the neutrino magnetic moment from SN1987A is improved bythe factor of 2.
