Abstract
A new band system of nitrogen in the region 2000–2800 Å degraded to the violet has been investigated. 14 heads have been measured and from these a head line formula could be computed. The rotational structure of the 0→0, 0→4 and 0→5 bands has been analysed. The bands have only one P- and one R-branch, whereas the lines show alternating intensities. It could be concluded that the transition probably is 1,3∑ − g → 1,3∑ − it.
