Abstract

4,4′-azobis(4-cyanopyrenylmethyl pentanoate) (ACPMP) was synthesized by the reaction of pyrenylmethanol with 4,4′-azobis(4-cyanopentanoyl chloride) (ACPC). ACPMP was further used in the synthesis of polystyrene with pyrene terminal groups by using conventional free radical polymerization (FRP) and stable free radical polymerization (SFRP) techniques. Incorporatioil of terminal groups were confirmed by spectral measurements.
