Abstract

Aprocedure for analyzing the kinetics of electrode processes involving adsorbed reactants is described and the necessary equations derived. Methods for determining or estimating the various contributions to the potential dependences of the standard free energy of activation, the activity coefficient of the activated complex, and the surface activity of the adsorbed reactant are discussed. The procedures for analysis of kinetic data suggested here are contrasted with previous treatments and the differences and relative advantages of the present treatment are pointed out.
