Abstract

Abstract A phase-stepping technique using a dual reference beam, fibre-optic holographic system is presented and applied to a surface deformation measurement. A hologram is produced with dual reference beams and then reconstructed with both reference beams. Phase variation is achieved by a change of viewing point on the holographic plate. The three phase-stepped holographic images are captured with a CCD camera mounted on a linear translator. The main advantage of this technique is the elimination of the use of a piezoelectric transducer for generating phase-stepped images. Results are obtained for the measurement of the surface deformation of uniformly loaded circular plates.
