Abstract

Two issues relating to long-term environmental policy making are discussed in this paper: (i) the need to improve ways of presenting environmental information to non-specialists; and (ii) the need to improve ways of building consensus amongst stakeholders concerning actions to be taken in the presence of uncertainty in long-term environmental futures. These themes are elaborated in the context of European Futures Study. Some possible improvements in methodologies are suggested.
