Abstract

Nonlinear amplifier finds number of applications as the function generator in analogue computer applications and in various communication circuits, such as PCM systems and adaptive delta modulated systems. A new method of generating nonlinear function is presented. This method gives a better piecewise linearisation approximation of the desired nonlinear curve compared to conventional available methods and minimizes the drift problem. A practical circuit developed has been discussed. Use of this amplifier for auto-ranging an analogue meter is described.
