Abstract
The team believes this modular approach allows different manufacturers to compete and collaborate. The principal units have a value when used alone or in conjunction with each other. For example, the anesthesia machine (chassis and ventilation unit alone) can be safely used to provide an anesthetic, and would provide excellent monitoring using capnometry and oxygen consumption. The infusion controllers can be used in both critical care and in the operating room.
