Abstract

A new recessive allelomorph of facet (X-chromosome-3·0), called facet-notched, has been described. It produces notching of the apical ends of the wings, and is exaggerated by dominant Notch deficiency. The facet/facet-notched compound is phenotypically normal, except in very rare cases (0·26 per cent.). The significance of the case in regard to our ideas of allelomorphism and deficiency is discussed.
