Abstract

A novel coordination polymer, {[Mn3(μ3-m-MePhIDC)2(H2O)6]·3H2O}n (1), has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction, employing 2-(m-methylphenyl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylic acid (m-MePhH3IDC) as organic ligand, and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, PXRD, and IR spectra. It crystallizes in trigonal R3 space group and exhibits a 3D honeycomb-like framework constructed from Mn(II) ions and m-MePhIDC3– units. The thermal and magnetic properties of compound 1 have been investigated as well.
