Abstract

A new inorganic–organic hybrid 22-Ni-substituted phosphotungstate, [Ni(H2O)2(en)]2[Ni(H2O)(en)2]2{[Ni6(OH)2(H2O)(en)2(B-α-PW9O34)]2[W4O16][Ni5(H2O)3(en)3(PW6O26)]2}·24H2O (1, en = ethylenediamine) has been made by hydrothermal method and characterized by elemental analysis, single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and UV–Vis diffuse-reflectance spectroscopy, respectively. Compound 1 contains a 22-Ni-substituted polyoxoanion built by central [W4O16]8− core and two different symmetrical clusters, [Ni6(OH)2(H2O)(en)2(B-α-PW9O34)]+ and [Ni5(H2O)3(en)3(PW6O26)]−, which is further linked by double-bridging [Ni(H2O)2(en)]2+ cations to form 1-D chain. Moreover, the counter cations, [Ni(H2O)(en)2]2+ support to the [B-α-PW9O34]9− fragments.
