Abstract

In deregulated electricity market load frequency control problem is an important issue due to unbundled rules because of this the design of load frequency controller is very difficult task in deregulated environment. This paper presents design of variable structure based controllers namely, ANN based sliding mode controller and Neuro Fuzzy sliding mode controller (NFSMC) to solve the load frequency control problem of multi area power system in deregulated environment. The effectiveness of proposed control methodology is compared to conventional PI controller, under one passable contract scenario by considering various operating conditions and larger load demands. The effectiveness of the proposed controllers demonstrated by considering dynamic parameters like Peak overshot, settling time.
