Abstract

Information Centric Networking (ICN) has been proposed to address recent data explosion issue more efficiently than the legacy TCP/IP and Named Data Networking (NDN) is a representative mechanism to realize the ICN concept. For the successful migration to NDN, it needs to support current and expected popular applications in efficient manner. The Publish/Subscribe is a typical example of these applications and basically requires event-driven networking rather than request-driven one of NDN. We observe that the current Pub/Sub solutions over NDN has some limitations, especially in provision of largescale service provision. Based on this problem statement, this paper proposes a networking scheme for scalable Pub/Sub networking over NDN. The proposed networking scheme is designed by adopting the broker-based architecture for large-scale service and by introducing the NDN-based push between the broker and clients for efficient event-driven delivery. From the simulation analysis by using Mini-NDN, we can see that the proposed scheme provides better performance than the existing scheme in terms of scalability and latency.
