Observations. McAlary, C. W. ; McLaren, R. A. ; McGonegal, R. J. ; Maza, J. Abstract The authors present broad-band photometric observations between 0.35 and 3.5 μm for a complete sample of pre-Einstein X-ray galaxies, most of which are Seyfert-like in nature. For most of these objects, the flux increases rapidly as one goes from the optical into the infrared. Some of the distant, high-luminosity sources, however, have relatively flat continua. For the nearby extended objects, multiaperture measurements have been obtained. These show that the stellar contribution to the nuclear light of low- and intermediate-luminosity Seyfert galaxies is often significant.
