Abstract

Abstract A phenoxazinium-based compound ( 1 ) behaving as a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe toward Zn 2+ was designed and synthesized. It showed selective fluorescence enhancement with the introduction of Zn 2+ in buffer aqueous solution. The probe 1 exhibited distinct red fluorescence and good stability under physiological pH. In addition, fluorescence imaging experiments of Zn 2+ in KB living cells demonstrated its value of practical applications in biological systems.
