Abstract

In-service training has frequently been advocated as a means to enhance the knowledge and skills of child welfare practitioners. In this article, results from national surveys that ascertain the experiences and attitudes toward in-service training of child welfare supervisors and workers are presented including the course topics and practitioner evaluation of these courses. While some congruity is found between the practitioners' in-service training experience and those areas in which they believe training is most needed, recommendations are also made to address unmet training needs.
