Abstract

Groats of the naked seeded oat variety Tibor were treated with mutagenic agents sodium azide and ethylmethane sulfonate. A floral mutant with very short rachillas was selected from a M4 population of the mutagen treated seed. This very unusual trait was found to be controlled by a single recessive gene named sr-1.
