Abstract

A multiwire driftchamber with good space and time resolution was constructed for use in high intensity beams. Measurements with a collimated 90Sr source resulted in a time resolution of 6.4 ns (fwhm) and a space resolution of 0.26 mm (fwhm). The effects of variations of the electrical field within the drift space and of the angular spread of the beam are discussed.
