Abstract

A multi-solver framework based on Robin transmission conditions is presented for solving scattering from complex objects. According to the material and geometry property, the entire computational domain consisting of the object and its background is decomposed into multiple subdomains. The inhomogeneous subdomains are modeled by the finite element method and the homogeneous subdomains with impedance and conducting boundaries are modeled by the method of moments. To construct a global system, the Robin transmission condition is used to couple adjacent subdomains. The preconditioner based on an absorbing boundary condition and the multilevel fast multipole algorithm are employed in the iterative solution. Numerical examples show the accuracy and the flexibility of the proposed method.
