Abstract

As the complexities of electrical power distribution network increases due to application of intermittent local generation and critical loads, power management in the network has become a highly challenging task. This paper is intended to investigate the opportunity of coalesce application of battery energy storage (BES) and capacitor unit in electrical distribution network. In this regard, a comprehensive multiobjective planning model has been proposed here to identify prospective connection points and capacity of BES and capacitor units in distribution network. Multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) based solution algorithm having fuzzy decision making criteria is employed to get optimal solution after trade-off between the objective of extension economic margin and reliability satisfying wide range of operational factors. The efficacy of the solution algorithm has been verified on a 28-bus Indian distribution system.
