Abstract

AbstractSecond Generation posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment programs were recently proposed as one component of a model of treatment of chronic PTSD. While First Generation PTSD programs emphasized trauma work, Second Generation programs emphasize skills for the present/future ability to adapt within society. The present paper describes a functioning Second Generation PTSD treatment program for Vietnam combat veterans. The guiding principles underlying this multimodal and vocational rehabilitation program are outlined.
