Abstract

A multiloop compensator for dead time processes, which penalizes measured disturbances through a predictor circuit and unmeasured upsets through an integrator loop, is analysed and criteria for selecting the compensator parameters are specified. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance of the compensator. Effectiveness of the technique is experimentally demonstrated on a real process having a time delay of 3.1 min.
