Abstract
A new fluorescent sensor, (E)-N'-((3-hydroxypyridin-2-yl)methylene)-4,5-dihydronaphtho[1,2-b]thiophene-2-carbohydrazide (LB3), was designed and synthesized based on 4,5-dihydronaphtho[1,2-b]thiophene-2-carbohydrazide and 3-hydroxypicolinaldehyde. LB3 not only exhibited fluorescence turn-on response towards Ga3+ with a detection limit of 4.42 × 10−9 M in DMSO/H2O (9:1) buffer solution, but also showed fluorescence turn-on response towards In3+ with a detection limit of 1.99 × 10−11 M in the DMF/H2O (9:1) buffer solution and the new formed complex LB3[In3+] could be further employed as the turn-off response towards Fe3+ with a detection limit of 1.67 × 10−8 M. Moreover, LB3 showed high sensitivity and selectivity towards Ga3+, In3+ and Fe3+ in the presence of other metal ions. The complexation ratio of LB3 to Ga3+, In3+ and Fe3+ were 1: 2, which were testified by mass spectrometry and the Job's plot. The structure of LB3 was performed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR and mass spectrum.
