Abstract

therapeutic options for all stages of larynx cancer. Although organ-sparing surgery and/or radiotherapy with or without systemic therapy have often replaced laryngectomy, optimal larynx cancer management depends not only on patient- and tumorrelated factors, but perhaps most importantly, ontheexpertiseandequipmentatthe treating facility. The advent of novel surgical techniques, advanced radiation delivery technologies, and targeted systemic therapeutics signify progress in the field, but the mostup-to-datemedicaldevicesanddrugs are not required for appropriate patient care. Excellent functional oncologic outcomes are achieved for patients with larynx cancer across many health care settings by using a multidisciplinaryapproachthataccounts for individual patient-specific considerations and available resources.
