Abstract

The incidence of Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci (VRE) in the pediatric population is very low, and had not been previously identified in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit (NICU). In May 2013, a neonate was found to be VRE colonized upon transfer to another facility. Additional screening identified 9 additional patients as being colonized with VRE. A multidisciplinary team was pulled together to address this Issue and interrupt transmission.
