Abstract

Purpose: A proof of principle study suggests that zoledronic acid may reduce knee pain and size of bone marrow lesions (BMLs) in people with knee osteoarthritis, but data from large trials is lacking. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of zoledronic acid vs placebo on knee cartilage volume, knee pain and BML size in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis and BMLs.
