Abstract

In this research, a new planar double-negative (DNG) metamaterial for multi-band operation has been designed and simulated that can work in the microwave region. The proposed metamaterial structure offers DNG properties for normal and parallel incidence means two axes (z and x) electromagnetic (EM) wave propagation through the metamaterial structure. For along the z-axis EM wave propagation, metamaterial exhibits DNG characteristics in the C band. Similarly, for along the x-axis EM wave propagation, it displays DNG characteristics in the L band. Commercially available computer simulation technology electromagnetic simulator was adopted to observe the design of the metamaterial. The metamaterial has exhibited multi-band retaliation in coincidence with the DNG characteristics and miniaturization factor over the certain frequency bands in the microwave spectra.
