Abstract

This paper presents the architecture of a multiagent system based on new OPC Unified Architecture (UA) technology for hierarchical control and monitoring of a complex process control system. This architecture is proposed with utilization of the OPC technology, which contains both a continuous-event component and a discrete- event component by incorporating XML for the negotiation and cooperation with the multiagent system's environments. The practical applications of the proposed archi- tecture are provided and the discussion demonstrates that the proposed architecture is both reliable and effective for applying to multiagent-based complex control system applications.
