Abstract

This paper aims to build a multi-agent based control framework for coupled transmission and distribution system restoration containing wind power and energy storage. The proposed framework consists of several types of agents, namely bus agent (BA), coordination agent (CA), feeder agent (FA), wind power agent (WPA), and energy storage agent (ESA). At transmission network level, BA controls all the connected components to fulfil the restoration tasks under the guidance of CA. At distribution network level, FA cooperates with BA to complete the restoration process of distribution system. In addition, WPA and ESA are designed to control the wind turbine and energy storage system with certain strategy in order to utilize their black-start capacity to restart the non-black-start units. A novel control strategy, named "coordinated build-together", is proposed to achieve parallel restoration process of transmission and distribution network through the collaboration between agents. Finally, simulations are conducted on a coupled transmission and distribution test system to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control framework.
