Abstract
China is constructing an vehicle emission monitoring system, aimed at combining remote OBD, periodic inspections, remote sensing and roadside checks. In this study, the exhaust emissions from diesel vehicles were investigated and analysed.
Highlights
With the rapid increase in the number of motor vehicles in China, the impact of vehicle emissions on air quality has become increasingly serious
Control of real driving emissions from in-use diesel vehicles is crucial for controlling air pollution in the transportation sector
In order to investigate the emissions of in-use heavy-duty diesel vehicles, portable emission measurement systems (PEMSs) testing was applied to measure the emissions of in-use heavy-duty diesel vehicles in Beijing
Summary
With the rapid increase in the number of motor vehicles in China, the impact of vehicle emissions on air quality has become increasingly serious. The NOx and PM emissions from diesel vehicles make up 80% and 90% of the total NOx and PM emissions from motor vehicles respectively.[1]. Hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from diesel vehicles are very low, while the main concerns of diesel vehicle exhaust pollution are NOx and PM. Effective vehicle emission test methods are needed to monitor the emissions of vehicles in use
