Abstract

WINGS GEOMETRICAL MORPHOMETRY AND THE AUTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION OF BEES SPECIES. Throughout the world, programs for the protection of pollinators are being launched. However, a problem widely faced in almost all studied groups is the lack of trained taxonomists to species identification in the various areas. Here, we conducted a review of studies involving the application of geometrical morphometrics of wings on the identification of species of bees. The technique is shown as an efficient, fast and low cost for the identification of species of stingless bees, opening a new opportunity to develop tools to reduce the taxonomic impediment.
