Abstract

The Money Center was originally planned for a third-grade class with low to average abilities. The students had been introduced to coins and their values in this order: penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar, one dollar, and five dollars. They had been counting money and identifying equivalent coin values in class exercises. They had also been taught the concept of regrouping in both addition and subtraction, but these skills all needed to be reinforced.
