Abstract

This paper presents a modular educational building system intended for teaching students and hobbyists the design aspects, programming, and applications of wearable technology, virtual and augmented reality, and the internet of things (IoT). The modular building system comprises a set of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and optical components, which can be interconnected to form a variety of smart wearables (i.e.: smart glasses, watches, bracelets, etc.), in addition to IoT devices. Each component performs one or more functions, which can be interconnected to create a multicomponent wearable or IoT system. The modular system can perform a task by responding to an external event(s) such as a voice command, temperature, pressure, gestures, proximity, and more importantly brain and muscular waves.
