Abstract

A modification of van der Waals one-fluid approximation is proposed. This is based on a simple perturbed equation of state which consists of the van der Waals type attractive term and the Carnahan-Starling (for pure fluids) type or the Mansoori-Carnahan-Starling-Leland (for mixtures) type repulsive term. The new mixing rules have been tested with computer simulation results for Lennard-Jones fluids. The results, especially in highly dense regions, are satisfactory.
